An Overview of Defence Doors
For buildings that require heavy-duty protection against forced entry, weaponry assaults and explosions, defence doors are an excellent choice.
All doors act as a barrier to protect against unwanted entry, but in some cases, more stringent defensive measures need to be put in place to protect against forced entry, weaponry assaults and explosions.
Here at FSE, we offer a wide range of defence doors to suit just about any security needs. These door sets (including frames, hinges, locks and viewing panels) are fully tested and certified to ensure they can withstand a range of attack levels, from forced entry to projectile or blast penetration. All of our doors adhere to Australian building standards outlined by the BCA (AS/NZS2343:1997).
Who Requires Defense Doors?
Industrial – Industrial facilities present very specific conditions when it comes to safety. Buildings that may require defence doors include mining and construction operations, warehouses and manufacturing facilities, government infrastructure, such as power plants, industrial research facilities and security, law enforcement facilities (e.g. police stations, prisons).
Commercial – Some commercial spaces require extra security measures to be put in place to protect against certain threats, two of the most common being retail spaces (services station, ticketing agencies, supermarkets, convenience stores, liquor stores) and financial spaces (banks, loan businesses, cash rooms).
Residential – While less common, some residences require more heavy duty defensive measures to be put in place.
What Is a Defence Door?
Defence doors differ from standard security doors as they are designed to protect against more serious threats. The material used to make your door will depend entirely on the level of security required. They can be made from glass, metal (steel) and even wood.
Defence doors are versatile and can be customised to suit a number of different requirements and environments:
• They can be manufactured and installed in a range of sizes, to suit a variety of operations.
• They can be fitted with various accessories, such as locks, fixings and glazed viewing windows (these are factory fitted to ensure the required resistant is met).
